redtail
began in 2011 as a project for husband and wife team Chris and Jenni
Harlow. The business is the combination of Jenni’s eye for
photography and Chris’s mind for business.
Jenni is a graduate of Miami University
where she studied photography and psychology. Yearning to establish a
connection between art and behavioral science she integrated her love of
people and art into her photography business. Intuitive and creative,
Jenni uses cues from the client-camera interaction to direct the shoot,
maintaining flexibility in her process and style. The produced result is
a psychological connection to not only the image, but the memory of the
experience captured on film.
The roots that were planted at Miami
continue to hold Jenni in place as a photographer. From these roots
emerge the founding principles of redtail photo:
-
Never be afraid to take a picture. It is fear that makes the image a success.
-
Consider every possible solution and capture the subject as a whole. Showcase every angle of a subject.
-
Connect with the subject. It is important to showcase this connection in film, and to understand the way a person views themselves in order to best capture that person.
